Of all the surreal nudes I have done, this is my favorite. An attractive young lady poses nude in a silky evening robe. Even as she gives birth to a monstrous spawn here hands modestly hiding her sex are the model of emotional composure. Ah, but the faces! Three eyes signal a fusion of wildly differen personalities, one turning optimistically to her right, one with obvious distress to her left. But even here there vare fascinating mixed messages. The concerned face is more guileless, with the puckish upturned nose and rosebud lips of a teenager. The optimist has a Pinochio nose and a hint of the skeptical, maybe even devious with that upturned arch of an eyebrow. About the Artist Hirsh is a practicing biophysicist, but he has also developed as a mathematical artist. He has developed a unique scheme for mathematical manipulation of color and space using software he writes himself exclusively. It has been fully operational for several years, allowing him to create a wide array of representational, impressionist, surreal and abstract images by manipulating digital images, initially always photographs, purely through the use of mathematics.
